The Village of Salem is situated near the border of Vermont in eastern Washington County. The village has a population of 964 (2000 U. S. Census) and covers just less than 3 square miles inside the town of Salem. The village sits and the intersections of New York State Routes 22, 30 and 153.

The Village Justice Court is held every Monday except holidays at 5:00 p.m. The Village Clerk’s office is open Monday from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

You should bring your court notice advising you to appear in court. If you are displaced, showing the court personnel your letter may help in directing you to where you need to go and what you need to do.
