Rockland County Adds New Court
Montebello Village Court recently held its first calendar call presiding over legal matters such as speeding ticket, zoning law violations, and small civil matters. This new court was established in 2012 and is a local court of jurisdiction. It is located at 350 Haverstraw Road in Montebello, New York. Like all other local courts in New York, this court has jurisdiction over criminal cases such as unlawful possession of marijuana, civil matters such as small claims cases and landlord tenant matters, and traffic tickets such as speeding tickets.The court is located in the Town of Ramapo. It only encompasses 4 square miles. Until 2012, cases within this jurisdiction would normally be heard in the Ramapo Town Court.
