Greenburgh Prosecutes old Tickets
Inexplicably, the Town of Greenburgh has uncovered over 100,000 old tickets. They have expressed interest in vigorously prosecuting these cases. So, if you received an old ticket and thought it was dismissed, think again. You may be getting a notice to appear in court in the near future.
In May 2011, the Journal News reported that the Greenburgh Town Court has recent found more than 100,000 speeding tickets and other traffic tickets crammed into cabinets on their property. Some of the tickets were written as far back 1993.
Can these tickets be dismissed based upon a statute of limitations? In general, there is no statute of limitations to dismiss a traffic ticket. While there may be other defenses available, a motion to dismiss based strictly upon a statue of limitation will not succeed.
