Q. Where is the Grove Town Court located?
A. Town Hall
Canaserga, NY 14822
Analysis and Commentary: The Grove Town Court has a population of 548, according to the U.S. Census (2010), and covers 33.7 square miles of land. New York State Route 70 passes through the northeast section of town. The town was first established in 1827; but lost part of its area when the Town of Granger was formed. It was possibly named for the grove of trees in the area.
A notable resident was Frederick Decker, known as “the Ossian Giant.” At 7 feet 6 inches and 385 pounds, he was quite something to see; so he exhibited himself across the country, before settling in Grove where he died and was buried in 1886.
